Bradley eases past Jacksonville State 72-65

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Tyshon Pickett had 15 points and 10 rebounds Friday night to help Bradley top Jacksonville State 72-65 in their season openers.

Omari Grier led Bradley with 17 points.

The Braves led by as many as 10 midway through the second half, but when Brian Williams hit a jumper with 7:28 left, Jacksonville State pulled within 52-51.

Walt Lemon Jr., answered with a 3-pointer to make it 55-51 and Jacksonville State never got any closer. Lemon finished with 16 points on 6-for-20 shooting.

Grant White had 16 points for the Gamecocks, who shot only 3 for 16 from 3-point range.
