LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Tomasz Gielo scored 14 points and Liberty used a deep bench to score a 74-53 win over Division III Randolph College in the season opener Friday night.

Andrew Smith scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Smith was the only other Liberty scorer to reach double figures, but 11 players had at least two points for the Flames. Liberty shot 50.9 percent from the floor and picked up 31 points from their bench.

Guard Zach Desgain was 6-of-8 from the field and scored 14 points to lead Randolph, which was 21-of-56 as a team from the field.

Liberty was 16 of 20 from the free throw line and limited the WildCats to just seven attempts from the line.

Randolph took an early three-point lead, but trailed by nine, 38-29, at intermission and fell behind steadily in the second half.
