MONROE, La. (AP) — Adam Kennedy threw for one touchdown and rushed for two more to lead Arkansas State to a victory over Louisiana-Monroe, 42-14 Saturday night.
Kennedy was 16-of 23 for 235 yards and one passing touchdown. He also led the Red Wolves (5-4, 3-1 Sun Belt) in rushing with 102 yards on 22 carries. Running back Michael Gordon had 72 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries while Sirgregory Thornton chipped in with 72 yards. The Red Wolves had 494 yards in total offense.
The teams were tied at halftime with the score at 14-14. But Arkansas State would score four unanswered touchdowns in the second half.
The Warhawks (5-5, 3-2) struggled, particularly in the second half, with quarterback Kolton Browning finishing 17-of-37 for 191 yards and two interceptions. Browning also led on the ground with 55 yards. Louisiana-Monroe wide receiver Rashon Ceaser caught both Warhawks touchdowns and finished with 118 yards.
