GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Shane Carden threw for five touchdowns and ran for two more, setting a school record for most TDs in a game, to lead East Carolina to a 58-24 win against Tulsa on Saturday night.

Carden had TD passes of 28, 18, 5, 25, and 5 yards and two rushing TDs from 1-yard out for East Carolina (7-2, 5-1 Conference USA). Carden finished with 384 yards passing and 25 on the ground. Carden broke Scott Harley’s record of six touchdowns in a game set on Nov. 16, 1996 against Ohio.

Trey Watts rushed for 120 yards and a score for Tulsa (2-7, 1-4) and has now rushed for at least 100 yards for the 5th time this season and 12th of his career. The Golden Hurricane turned the ball over three times, including an interception that was returned by freshman DaShaun Amos for 100 yards, as time expired.
