GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Vince Garrett, a transfer from Rutgers, led four Green Bay players scoring in double figures as the Phoenix won their season opener, defeating Northern Michigan 71-49 on Saturday.

Garrett, a senior guard, hit six of seven attempts en route to 15 points. Alec Brown, Keifer Sykes and Carrington Love all scored 10 points apiece.

The Phoenix, leading 34-27 at the half, held the Wildcats to 21.9 percent shooting in the second half and 30.5 overall. Green Bay was 25 of 57 for 43.9 percent.

Green Bay had nine blocks, the fifth-most in program history, spread out among four players.

The game counted as an exhibition for Northern Michigan, a Division II program under new coach Bill Sall. Dorrell Foster and Larry Taylor scored 12 points each for the Wildcats.

The game marked only the second time Green Bay played a regular-season game in the Kress Events Center.
