Strauss rallies Richmond past Stony Brook 39-31

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Michael Strauss threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns to lead Richmond in a come-from-behind 39-31 victory over Stony Brook.

Strauss threw touchdowns of 15 yards to Seth Fisher and 7 to Ben Edwards to give the Spiders (4-6, 2-4 Colonial Athletic Association) an 18-7 lead.

The Seawolves (3-6, 1-5) climbed back on a late second quarter touchdown by James Kenner. Kenner, who finished with 136 yards, scored his third touchdown of the day in the third quarter. A 19-yard score from Lyle Negron to Will Tye put Stony Brook ahead 28-18.

Strauss responded with a 42-yard strike to Edwards. Following a Stony Brook field goal, Strauss threw a 13-yard touchdown to Stephen Barnette to give Richmond the lead. His fifth of the day came on a late 6-yarder to Rashad Ponder, putting the Spiders up by eight.

Stony Brook failed on a fourth-down conversion try on the ensuing series.
