ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — UCF receiver Breshad Perriman was carted off the field on a stretcher after a hard hit over the middle early in the fourth quarter of the 19th-ranked Knights’ game with Houston.

The sophomore was trying to catch a pass over the middle from quarterback Blake Bortles when he was struck in the chest by Houston cornerback Zach McMillian with 12:52 to play in the game the UCF leading 13-7.

McMillian was flagged for targeting on the play and ejected. McMillian attempted to return to the field minutes later in street clothes, but was ordered off the field by referees.

Perriman had five catches for 60 yards before the play.
