Adams carries Portland St past Idaho St, 38-31

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — DJ Adams rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns as Portland State defeated Idaho State 38-31 Saturday.

Collin Ramirez added 117 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings (6-4, 3-3 Big Sky). Portland State finished with 395 yards rushing and 539 yards total offense.

Portland State led 28-7 after Adams’ first touchdown, on an 11-yard run, with 13:17 remaining in the first half.

But Idaho State (3-7, 1-6 Big Sky) closed within 28-21 on two Justin Arias-to-Luke Austin strikes before intermission.

Austin finished with 7 catches for 88 yards and 3 touchdowns. Chad Hansen had 4 catches for 138 yards and 1 score.

The Bengals were driving when Brandon Brody-Heim intercepted Arias in the end zone with 2:12 remaining in the third quarter.

Idaho State got a 41-yard field goal from Brendon Garcia with 3:40 left.
