KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) — Marc Granet and Scott Begovich won the Superboat Unlimited title Sunday in the Key West World Championship offshore powerboat races.

Piloting Miss Geico, Granet, from Boca Raton, and Begovich, from Jupiter, won the final race Sunday after earlier winning and finishing second in two preliminary races.

Geico almost lapped 2012 class champion Spirit of Qatar, driven by Nasser Al-Attiyah, a Qatari rally car driver and Olympic skeet shooter.

WHM Motorsports, owned and piloted by William Mauff of East Setauket, N.Y., won the Superboat class title after a three-day fight with rival Stihl, driven by Robert Noble of Orlando.

The championship featured 44 registered boats competing in eight classes.
