SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Kyle Harbridge rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns, helping St. Francis build an early lead that withstood a late rally from Bryant for a 23-20 victory Saturday.

Bryant (4-6, 2-3 Northeast Conference) scored two fourth quarter touchdowns in less than 1 minute, 5 seconds to come within a field goal. But Mike Harris intercepted Mike Westerhaus on Bryant’s final drive to seal the win for St. Francis (4-5, 2-2).

Harbridge’s second touchdown run came on a 66-yard run, helping St. Francis to a 20-7 halftime lead.

Bryant scored on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Christopher Schultz to John Lavin with 7:59 left in the game for its first score of the second half. The Bulldogs then used their timeouts on the ensuing possession and forced a punt before scoring again quickly on a three-play drive.

Westerhaus threw for 237 yards and a touchdown, but was hurt by three interceptions.
