STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Jameel Warney posted his third consecutive double-double to open the season, and Stony Brook topped Northeastern 73-66 on Wednesday night.

Warney had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Jackson led the Seawolves (3-0) with 17 points with Dave Coley scoring 12. Carson Puriefoy added 11 off the bench.

Scott Eatherton scored 20 points and Reggie Spencer 18 for the Huskies (0-2) with David Walker adding 13. Eatherton, a junior transfer from St. Francis (Pa.), had 13 rebounds to put up his second double-double.

Trailing by five at halftime, Northeastern tied the game at 38 with 14:46 remaining. Stony Brook again edged ahead by seven. The Huskies came back within one, 51-50, on Eatherton’s dunk. But Anthony Jackson responded with a jumper, Ahmad Walker a tip-in and Scott King a 3-pointer to restore an eight-point advantage with 5:05 left. The Huskies didn’t get closer than five after that.
