ST. HELENS, Ore. — The Oregon Humane Society says more than 100 dogs were rescued from filthy conditions when they were seized Wednesday from a Columbia County breeder.

KOIN reports deputies served a search warrant on the property that was under investigation for failing to provide adequate shelter and drinking water. A recent county Animal Control inspection found piles of animal waste in the kennels with no ventilation.

The dogs included 35 Akitas, along with dachshunds, terriers and poodles. They were taken to an emergency shelter for treatment by the Humane Society staff.
