East Carolina puts away Chowan 95-45

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Brandan Stith scored 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and East Carolina routed Chowan 95-45 on Thursday night.

The Pirates (3-0) opened the game on a 9-0 run and Division II Hawks could not recover. Phoenix Butler-Poole connected on a jumper with 5:09 left to cut the deficit to 29-22 for Chowan, but the Pirates outscored the Hawks 16-3 the rest of the half to open a 20-point halftime lead.

Akeem Richmond connected on five 3-pointers for a game-high 15 points and Caleb White added 13 for East Carolina. Greg Alexander and Petar Torlak matched Stitch with 11 points apiece and Marshall Guilmette rounded out the list of Pirates in double figures with 10 points.

Stith’s rebounding effort led the way in a 59-27 rebounding advantage for East Carolina, who won their eighth game in a row going back to last season.

Butler-Poole scored 11 points to lead Chowan.
