Two people were injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle collision in Hockinson.

Mark Elston, 56, was driving his 1995 Honda Del Sol west on Northeast 159th Street when the car in front of him slowed to turn left onto Northeast Parkinen Road, near Hockinson High School. Elston realized this too late and swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid rear-ending the car in front of him, said Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Barnes. Elston’s vehicle collided with an eastbound 2005 Pontiac Vibe driven by Paula Rauch, 60.

The crash was reported at 5:33 p.m.

A crew with Fire District 3 extricated and treated the drivers, who were the sole occupants of each vehicle. Elston was transported to a local hospital with a chest injury, while Rauch was also sent to the hospital with a leg injury, Barnes said. Their conditions were not available.

The roadway was blocked for about half an hour.
