UAB never trails in defeating Troy 81-69

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — C.J. Washington scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Alabama-Birmingham never trailed in defeating Troy 81-69 Thursday night.

Washington was 11 of 14 from the floor, including three 3-pointers. Washington has been the game-high scorer in each UAB game this season.

Fahro Alihodzic had a game-high 10 boards while leading the Blazers (3-0) to 53 rebounds, the third straight game the team has had more than 50 boards.

UAB stretched the lead by as much as 17 points in the second half. Troy (1-2) was able to pull within six points, but that was with 19:06 remaining.

Kevin Thomas came off the bench and was 9 of 12 for 19 points to lead the Trojans. Westley Hinton and Hunter Williams also scored in double-figures.

UAB is one win away from 700 all-time in school history.
