CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Addison Spruill’s 3-pointer with 24 seconds left in overtime lifted UNC Wilmington to an 80-78 victory over Charleston Southern on Wednesday night.

Charleston Southern (2-1) opened up a 13-point lead, 53-40, with 10:35 remaining in regulation when Saah Nimley found Will Saunders for a 3-pointer, giving the Buccaneers their biggest lead of the night.

After another Nimley 3-pointer, just over 6 minutes later, pushed the CSU lead to 64-56, UNCW (1-2) finished the second half with an 11-3 run, including Spruill’s 3-point shot with 5 seconds left in the second half, to send the game into overtime.

Charleston Southern’s Cedrick Bowen missed a 3-pointer with 1 second left in overtime and Freddie Jackson’s rebound sealed the win for the Seahawks.

Cedrick Williams scored a game-high 26 points in the win. Spruill hit just 3 of 14 field goals.

Matt Kennedy led CSU with 19 points and Saunders added 18.
