SPARTANBURG, N.C. (AP) — Marcus Cox rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns — all after halftime — as Appalachian State came from behind to defeat Wofford 33-21 on Saturday, eliminating the Terriers from a share of the conference championship.

Trailing 14-10 after two quarters, the Mountaineers (3-8, 3-4 Southern) scored on their first four possessions after halftime, meanwhile holding Wofford to two three-and-outs and a fumble.

Cox started the comeback with a TD from the 1, boosting Appalachian State into the lead 17-14. After a Wofford fumble at the 17, Cox scored again from the 3 and capped his scoring by carrying the ball 10 times on a 15-play drive to make the score 33-14 with 5:36 to play. Drew Stewart added a 30-yard field goal.

Wofford (5-5, 4-3), with one game remaining, can’t catch conference leaders Chattanooga and Samford.

With seven catches, Brian Peacock becomes Appalachian State’s all-time receiving leader.
