INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Arethusa won the $100,250 Sharp Cat Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by 814 lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park on Saturday.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Arethusa ran 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:45.41 and paid $23, $8 and $4.60 at 10-1 odds. The winning margin and win payout both set records for the race. The old margin of victory was 414 lengths by May Day Rose in 2010, and the old payout was $23 by Midnight Ballet last year.

Arethusa earned her first victory after losing three times at Del Mar and Santa Anita. She won $75,610.

“Arethusa has just improved every race,” trainer Eoin Harty said. “She’s a super mover and she’s trained here basically all of her career. I knew she wouldn’t get tired.”

Be Proud returned $3.40 and $3, while Saintly Joan was another nine lengths back in third and paid $3.80 to show.

Bob Baffert trained Be Proud and Georgia, who finished fifth.
