NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Isaiah Williams had 19 points and eight rebounds and sparked a second-half run on Saturday as Iona beat Wofford 76-55 in the their first-ever meeting.
Iona (1-1) led 44-39 when Williams made a 3-pointer with 13:22 left in the game to start a 20-8 run. Williams capped the run with another to put Iona ahead 64-47 with 6:55 left in the game. Williams was 5 of 7 from 3-point range and Sean Armand led the Gaels with 20 points.
Tavon Sledge sat out for Iona with a sprained left ankle and his foot was in a walking boot.
Wofford (1-2) held the Gaels scoreless on their first seven attempts from the field and led early in the game. Williams hit two 3-pointers, his second tied the game 9-9 and Iona would never trail again.
Spencer Collins shot 8 of 12 for 23 points for the Terriers.
