ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Najee Bright intercepted a last-second pass by Mississippi Valley State’s Pat Ivy at the end of the first half and teamed with Deandre Rashada on a 75-yard return for a touchdown that put Alabama State ahead for good and spark a 19-7 win.

Bright returned the interception to the MVSU 15 before flipping the ball to Rashada, who dove into the end zone to lift the Hornets into the lead, 12-7 after the PAT was blocked.

Alabama State (7-4, 7-2 SWAC) stalled the MVSU running game, holding the Delta Devils (2-9, 2-7 SWAC) to just 67 yards rushing after making 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for a total of 52 yards in losses.

Bobby Wenzig kicked a pair of first-half field goals for Alabama State, including a 46-yarder in the first quarter.

Daniel Duhart tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jamel Johnson in the third quarter.
