US gets silver in volleyball grand champions cup

TOKYO (AP) — The United States beat the Domincan Republic in four sets on Sunday to win the silver medal at the volleyball World Grand Champions Cup.

Lauren Paolini had 19 points in the Americans’ 25-14, 25-16, 21-25, 25-18 victory. Kelly Murphy and Jordan Larson-Burbach added 16 apiece.

Olympic champion Brazil beat host Japan 29-27, 25-14, 25-18 for the title. Fernanda Rodrigues led the way with 16 points.

Brazil became the first team to win the title twice following its 2005 triumph. It finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record for 15 points.
