FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Aaron Brown had 18 points to lead Southern Miss to a 70-69 victory over North Dakota State on Monday night.

Neil Watson hit a 3-pointer with 1:29 to give Southern Miss (3-0) a 70-66 lead and all the points it would need to hang on for the win.

The score was on tied five different occasions in the second half — including 65-65 with 3:44 to go — but Southern Miss never allowed North Dakota State take the lead.

The Bison (1-2) had one final attempt down 70-69 with 1.8 seconds to play, but Watson stole the ball from TrayVonn Wright following the inbounds pass and time expired.

Wright led all scorers with 21 points and also recorded a game-high 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles. Mike Felt added 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting from 3-point range.
