Gant leads Indiana St. past Truman St. 80-69

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Justin Gant scored 23 points, leading four players in double figures as Indiana State defeated Truman State 80-69 Friday night.

Gant made 8 of 10 shots as the Sycamores (3-1) shot 54 percent for the game. Reserve Devonte Brown added 13 points and starting forwards Manny Arop and Demetrius Moore had 10 apiece for Indiana State.

Mike Carlson led Truman State with 20. Andrew Vander Zwaag came off the bench to add 14 and Reed Mellis had 13. The Division II Bulldogs (2-0), who counted the game as an exhibition, shot 56 percent for the game but were out-rebounded 32-19.

Indiana State controlled the inside, getting 42 points in the point and out-scoring Truman State 11-0 on second-chance points. The Sycamores also scored 22 points off 13 Truman turnovers.

The Sycamores reached their double-figure lead by halftime with Truman playing them even in the second half.
