Nevada beats Chattanooga on buzzer-beater, 83-81

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Deonte Burton poured in a game-high 28 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Nevada over Chattanooga 83-81 Friday night.

The Wolf Pack (3-2) shot 51.7 percent from the field, just outperforming Chattanooga’s 50 percentage.

Chattanooga (2-3) led by as much as eight, but Nevada wouldn’t go away, taking a 79-78 lead after a Michael Perez layup.

After a split pair of free throws from Burton, Z. Mason made a 3-pointer to give the Mocs the lead.

Mason was sent to the line after a series of turnovers, but he missed both free throws with eight seconds left.

The Wolf Pack took a timeout with 2 ticks on the clock, and Burton sank a 3-point dagger as time expired.

Burton was 9 of 14 on field goal attempts and had five assists.

Mason finished with 24 points and a game-high eight rebounds and Greg Pryor added 19.
