HOUSTON (AP) — Hans Brase scored 15 points and Princeton used runs to close the first half and open the second to take down Rice 70-56 Saturday.

Marcus Jackson hit a pair of free throws to give Rice (2-3) a 23-21 lead with 7:58 left in the first half but the Owls turned the ball over on their next four possessions and Princeton closed out the half on a 15-2 run. Brase started the run with a layup and capped it with a 3-point shot and the Tigers went into the break leading 36-25.

Brase opened the second half with a layup as Rice scored 17 of the first 23 points in the second half, opening a 22-point lead with 13:55 remaining. T.J. Bray’s 3-pointer with just under 8 minutes to go gave the Tigers their biggest lead of the game, 60-35.

The Rice starters shot just 11 of 33 from the field.
