INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Tamarando caught the leaders with less than an eighth of a mile to go and went on to win the $100,750 Real Quiet Staks by 314 lengths on Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ridden for the first time by Rafael Bejarano, Tamarando ran 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:44.22 and paid $7.40, $3.60 and $2.60.
Electric Eddie returned $11.80 and $6.40 at 22-1 odds, while Karma King was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $6.60 to show. Green Mask finished fourth as the 6-5 favorite.
Tamarando has three wins in seven career starts and earnings of $355,120.
It was Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s second win in the Real Quiet, having won with Chocolate Candy in 2008.
