MALELANE, South Africa (AP) — John Daly will play in the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship this week in the northern South African wilderness as he comes back from elbow surgery.

The two-time major winner will play at Leopard Creek Golf Club near Kruger National Park.

Daly says he has spotted elephants near where he is staying and “woke up to a cobra this morning. For us being from America you see that kind of stuff in the movies and seeing it live is just incredible.”

Daly had an operation in July to repair a shattered tendon in his right elbow and is getting an early start to the new season after being invited by organizers.
