EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) — Rashad Whack scored the final four points of the game and finished with 22 points Tuesday night to lead Mount St. Mary’s in a narrow 69-64 victory over Bucknell.
The Bison cut the deficit to two (63-61) with 1:49 to play after a 3-pointer by Chris Hass. Mount St. Mary’s hit 6 of 8 free throws — Whack made the final 4 of 6 — in the last 68 seconds to hold the lead.
The Mountaineers (2-5) led by eight at the half and extended their lead to as many as 12 with 11:29 to play, but Bucknell slowly chipped away with a 19-9 run. Brian Fitzpatrick shot 8 of 12 (67 percent) and scored 18 points for Bucknell (3-3).
The five-point loss is the largest of the season for the Bison — both previous losses came by four-point margins.
