William & Mary has big 2nd half to beat VMI 97-67

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Tim Rusthoven had 26 points, 16 rebounds and five assists on Wednesday night to lead William & Mary over Virginia Military 97-67.

William & Mary (3-3) opened the second half on a 21-9 run capped by Sean Sheldon’s layup with 11:40 left to give the Tribe a 67-44 lead. William & Mary led by no less than 20 from there.

The Tribe shot 44.4 percent from 3-point range, led by Omar Prewitt who was 5 of 7 from distance and finished with 22 points. They had 20 assists to only six turnovers and out-rebounded the Keydets 51-38.

The 67 points were a season low for VMI (4-3) which entered the game ranked 10th in the nation in points per game (91.5).

Trey Chapman led the Keydets with 16 points and Rodney Glasgow had 15. QJ Peterson had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
