San Francisco knocks off Vermont 72-61

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Cole Dickerson hit all four of his 3-point shots, shooting 10 of 14 from the field, totaling 28 points as San Francisco defeated Vermont 72-61 in the Golden Gate Challenge Friday night.

Avery Holmes and Kruize Pinkins each totaled 13 points for the Dons (5-3).

The Dons made 6 of 10 3-pointers, shooting 51 percent overall from the field, compared to Vermont’s 43.8 percent.

Vermont (2-6) got off to a quick start to take a 24-20 lead, but the Dons used a 10-2 run over the last 4:03 of the first half to go into the break holding a 30-26 advantage.

USF had a slim 57-53 lead with 4:06 remaining in the game when the Dons had an 11-2 run to take their biggest lead 68-55 with 54 seconds remaining.

Clancy Rugg had 13 for Vermont. Sandro Carissimo and Brian Voelkel each scored 11 points.
