INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Silentio defeated Summer Front by a nose to win the $250,500 Citation Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park on Friday.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Silentio ran 1 1/16 miles on the turf in 1:40.66 and paid $5, $2.80 and $2.10 as the 3-2 favorite.

The winning margin equaled the smallest in Citation history, tying Charge d’Affaires who won by a nose in 2000.

Summer Front returned $3.40 and $2.40, while Winning Prize was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $2.40 to show.

It was Silentio’s fourth win in 10 career starts and increased his earnings to $626,960.

Silentio was coming off a third-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita a month ago.
