LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Kolton Browning threw two touchdown passes and Louisiana-Monroe held on to defeat Louisiana-Lafayette 31-28 Saturday night.

Browning hit Rashon Ceaser with a 16-yard touchdown pass, then connected with Ajalen Holley for a two-point conversion to give Louisiana-Monroe (6-6, 4-3 Sun Belt Conference) a 28-21 lead. Justin Maton kicked a 28-yard field goal to cap the scoring for ULM. Holley also caught a 29-yard touchdown from Browning in the first quarter.

Brooks Haack threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Robinson to bring Louisiana-Lafayette within three with 53 seconds remaining, yet the Rajin’ Cajuns did not recover the ensuing onside kick.

Terrance Broadway, the Rajin’ Cajuns starting quarterback, accounted for two touchdowns, but threw three interceptions on three consecutive drives. Two were thrown in the ULM end zone.

Despite the loss, Louisiana-Lafayette (8-3, 5-1) will at least share the conference title because of Arkansas State’s 34-31 loss to Western Kentucky.
