Shumway — The Fort Vancouver High School class of 1958 couldn’t return to its high school for a reunion because the building that housed it was demolished years ago. But its members did also attend what used to be Shumway Junior High School and is now the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics — so that’s where they went for a reunion tour. Principal James O’Banion gave a tour on Saturday, Sept. 21. It all happened after a fueling stop at longstanding student hangout Dairy Queen, of course. “This was a wonderful trip through time that brought the present and past together,” said classmate Gene Nordstrom, the parent of a VSAA graduate.
