PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Lindsey Vonn’s surgically repaired knee feels so good she could return to racing at the end of this month, five weeks earlier than she originally expected.
Vonn told the U.S. Olympic Committee media summit that the season-opening World Cup event in Soelden, Austria, is a “definite possibility” after a successful return to the slopes last month in Portillo, Chile. Vonn says there’s no pain or swelling in her right knee, and all that’s left in her recovery is to get back up to race speeds. She is going to Europe in a couple of weeks for more training, and says she’ll probably wait until a few days before Soelden to decide whether to race or not.
The World Cup in Soelden is Oct. 26-27.
