TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Jahii Carson’s coach says his sophomore season will be his last at Arizona State.
Though Carson’s early exit to the NBA has been anticipated since he arrived in Tempe, coach Herb Sendek said Thursday that he has no doubt the dynamic point guard will leave for the pros after this season.
Carson was one of the most heralded in-state recruits in Arizona State history and he lived up to the billing as a redshirt freshman last season. He led the Sun Devils in scoring at 18.5 points per game and assists at 5.1, and was named the Pac-12’s co-freshman of the year with UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad.
The 5-foot-10 guard filed paperwork to be evaluated by NBA executives during the offseason before deciding to return to Arizona State.
