INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw is contemplating having season-ending surgery on his injured neck or letting the injury heal on its own, a person with knowledge of the medical options told The Associated Press on Monday night.

The person requested anonymity because the team has not provided specific information about the injury.

Bradshaw signed with the Colts in June after having surgery on his right foot, but he was expected to be a key cog in Indianapolis’ new power-running game. He inherited the starting job when Vick Ballard tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at practice three weeks ago. He was injured early in the San Francisco game, returned later and wound up with best day with the Colts. But he hasn’t played since then.
