Battle Ground Public Schools is terminating the contract of Gregg Herrington, communications director, as of Oct. 31. Herrington had planned to retire in June.

The district’s communications tasks will be contracted with Educational Service District 112 until the end of the 2013-14 school year, said Duane Rose, interim superintendent. Many smaller school districts in Clark County contract for communications services with ESD 112.

“We’re going in a new direction,” Rose said.

He added that the district plans to have a new superintendent begin July 1 and that person can hire a communications director.

Herrington’s 2012 salary was $98,444. The interim communications position will be part time. The district has not finalized a contract with ESD 112 and does not have a dollar amount of the contract yet.
