BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Matt Johnson passed for 167 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bowling Green to a 28-7 homecoming win over the University of Massachusetts in a Mid-American Conference matchup Saturday.
Johnson spread the attack, sending touchdown throws to three different receivers, including a 51-yard pass to Ronnie Moore in the first quarter to give the Falcons (5-1, 3-0) a lead they’d keep over the winless Minutemen (0-5, 0-1). Tyler Beck caught a 23-yard pass for a touchdown in the third quarter, followed by a 9-yard TD catch by Heath Jackson five minutes later. William Houston also punched in a 1-yard touchdown run.
The only UMass score came late in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Mike Wegzyn to Tajae Sharpe.
Bowling Green also got another big game from Travis Greene, who was kept out of the end zone but rushed for 160 yards.
