NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have promoted quarterback Rusty Smith from the practice squad to the roster to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Titans announced the move Saturday. They need a second quarterback with Jake Locker out Sunday with a sprained right hip and knee.
They also waived defensive end Keyunta Dawson to make roster space for Smith. The 6-foot-5 Smith is in his fourth season with the Titans and has played in three games during his career.
