Trainer Chad Brown wins 2 stakes at Belmont

NEW YORK (AP) — Trainer Chad Brown won the $200,000 turf stakes for 2-year-olds with Bobby’s Kitten and Testa Rossi on Sunday at Belmont Park.

Bobby’s Kitten, the 9-5 favorite, romped by 614 lengths over stablemate Shadow Banking in the Pilgrim as Brown finished 1-2. Javier Castellano rode the colt who improved to 2 for 3, paying $5.70 to win. The time was 1:42.37 for 1 1/16 miles on the firm course.

One race later, Testa Rossi won her U.S. debut, edging Sky Painter by a nose in the Miss Grillo for fillies. After taking 3 of 5 in France, Testa Rossi made a winning transition with a rally from last in the 11-horse field. Jose Lezcano was aboard as she paid $12.60 to win. The time was 1:41.73.
