Letter: Situation looks like anarchy

The Columbian
Published: October 6, 2013, 5:00pm

The present state of our government is not an accident. In the 2010 general elections a well-funded organization spent tens of millions of dollars to elect a small minority of Congress persons (40 to 60) under the name of “Tea Party” Republicans. Their mandate was to eliminate all progress made by President Obama and Congress in his first term and block any further progress in his second term. It is perfectly clear that the shutdown of the government is exactly what they want. There is a word for this state of government and that is anarchy as defined by Webster’s dictionary: “a situation of confusion and wild behavior in which the people in a country, group, organization, etc., are not controlled by rules or laws.”
