CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Jacob Huesman rushed for two touchdowns as Chattanooga crushed Furman 31-9 in Southern Conference play on Saturday night.
Huesman ran for a total of 73 yards. In the air, he was 13 of 17 for 84 yards. Running back Keon Williams led the Mocs (4-2, 2-1 Southern Conference) on the ground with 101 rushing yards on 22 carries and one touchdown.
A pair of Ray Early field goals kept the Paladins (2-4, 1-2) competitive until halftime.
But the Mocs opened it up seven minutes into the third quarter when Huesman rushed over left tackle, pump faked, and broke free to run 37 yards for a third Chattanooga touchdown. Four plays into the next Furman possession, Early’s punt was blocked, setting up a Nick Pollard field goal on the following Chattanooga possession. Williams’ 1-yard rushing TD with just over 2 minutes left in the game sealed the win for Chattanooga.
