DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Sean Goldrich completed two touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown, in his first start of the season, to lead New Hampshire in a 59-19 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.
New Hampshire (2-3, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) led a close contest 14-12 midway through the second quarter, but the Wildcats proceeded to score 38 unanswered points and pulled away.
The Rams (2-5, 1-3) were held scoreless in the third quarter and New Hampshire scored five second-half touchdowns, including two defensive scoring plays. Steven Thames had an 11-yard interception return and Cam Shorey recovered a fumble for 44 yards.
Goldrich had 241 yards passing and rushed 14 times for 94 yards for New Hampshire. Nico Steriti added two rushing touchdowns and 150 yards.
Robbie Jackson caught nine passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns to lead Rhode Island.
