STEVENSON — People can dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs at the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office’s semi-annual drug take-back day.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26, at the sheriff’s office, 200 Vancouver Ave., Stevenson.

The initiative seeks to curb prescription drug abuse, accidental poisonings and overdoses. Flushing unwanted medicines down the toilet or throwing them away poses potential safety and health hazards, according to the sheriff’s office.

Drug take-back days are free to the public and anonymous.
