UPDATE: An Amber Alert was canceled after Gresham, Ore., police confirmed that Joshua R. Cavett was in custody Saturday evening and that his daughter Paige was safe.

PREVIOUS STORY:

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police continued a search Saturday for a man and his 2-year-old daughter after police found a woman suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound in a Gresham apartment.

The shooting on Saturday morning led police to the apartment, and the woman was taken to an area hospital. Police did not identify her or release details on her condition.

Police issued an Amber Alert late Saturday afternoon for 2-year-old daughter Paige Cavett, daughter of 36-year-old Joshua R. Cavett, who is a person of interest in the shooting.

Police say Cavett has his daughter with him, and is armed and dangerous. Cavett is Paige’s biological father, but does not have legal custody of her.

Police say they do not have a vehicle description.

Police say Cavett has numerous tattoos, including ones on his face and neck.
