OREGON CITY, Ore. — A Clackamas County Circuit Court judge ruled Wednesday that almost everything a 17-year-old told police in confessing to killing his grandmother can be used as evidence at his murder trial.

Andrew Arjune Tiyler Johnson is charged with murder as an adult and is scheduled for trial Dec. 2.

The Oregonian reports his lawyers plan an insanity defense.

In court documents released Wednesday Johnson told police he stabbed and strangled 63-year-old Donna Tennant last December. He had been living with her at her home in Milwaukie.

He said he was upset with his grandmother over travel plans and decided to kill her as she slept. Her last words to him were, “Good night. I love you.”
