ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Dream has decided not to renew the contract of general manager and head coach Fred Williams.

The team said in a news release Friday that Williams’ contract ends Nov. 30. He will move to a consultant position as a new head coach and general manager takes over.

As the Dream coach, Williams had a 24-20 regular season record and a 5-6 playoff record. The team made it to the WNBA Finals this year.

Williams was promoted from assistant coach to general manager and head coach in August 2012 and signed a one-year contract last December.

He came to the Dream in the team’s first season in 2008 after previously serving as head coach of the Utah Starzz and assistant coach of the Charlotte Sting.
