SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Robert Lowe rushed for a career-high 177 yards and a touchdown to lead Texas State over Georgia State 24-17 on Saturday night.

Chris Nutall added 90 yards and two touchdowns. His 3-yard touchdown with eight minutes left in the game gave the Bobcats a 17-10 lead.

Texas State (4-3, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) finished with 301 yards rushing in its first victory as a new member of the Sun Belt. It was a determined effort as they ran 41 times compared to only 12 passes.

Ronnie Bell was 20 of 36 for 208 yards with one touchdown and an interception. He led a more balanced attack from the Panthers (0-7, 0-2) but paid the price when he threw a critical interception with four minutes left in the game.

Georgia State linebacker Robert Ferguson surpassed Mark Hogan to become the school’s career leader in tackles with 158.
