Letter: Leavitt’s CRC votes are unethical

Mayor Tim Leavitt has run on a platform of no tolls and that he wouldn’t support a project where the burden to pay for it fell to taxpayers. After he was elected, he flip-flopped to support tolling and the Columbia River Crossing. He currently is a driving force for light rail and the CRC.

Leavitt works for PBS Engineering. PBS Engineering has a contract with TriMet related to light rail. I don’t have a problem with PBS receiving contracts; I do have a problem with Leavitt being able to vote on CRC issues. Leavitt maintains that this is not illegal. I maintain that it is unethical.

Vote accordingly come November.
