PRINEVILLE, Ore. — The Humane Society of the United States has added $5,000 to the reward for information leading to the conviction of anyone responsible for shooting six wild horses this month in the Ochoco National Forest about 30 miles east of Prineville.
The Bulletin reports the reward now totals $7,000. In addition, another $4,000 reward for information about the shooting death of six wild horses in the same area two years ago remains unclaimed.
Hunters discovered four horses Oct. 13 and Forest Service rangers found the other carcasses.
The Forest Service and Crook County sheriff’s office are investigating.
